THE BULL, THE BALLOON, AND THE FAMILY -
REUBENS ACCOMPLICE - CD REVIEW

The CD cover says 'as Written and Told by REUBENS ACCOMPLICE' and that indicates a story of sorts. Part of the story is that RA is Jeff Bufano and Chris Corak. All the layers of music talent past those two are 'THE FAMILY', and that family is large, including visiting 'uncles' David Bazan of PEDRO THE LION, and Howe Gelb of GIANT SAND.
The high quality sound engineering and production found on this CD are the reasons most bands seek a label to back them. The songs produced from the song writing team of Bufano/Corak and the family are road trip/possible sound track material and are fine examples of music you hear on alternative stations in the hip mid-south market. For those who think good music is only found on the radio/tv avenues, you need to turn down that street you pass that looks interesting, there you might find REUBENS ACCOMPLICE playing a tune just as interesting without the commercial break. - PT ROTHSCHILD
