Scooby Doo:
Monsters Unleashed Movie Review
Current mood: amused
After reading all the dreadful reviews of this movie I thought,
“it can’t really be THAT bad.” So we loaded up the 3 year old and headed to
the 12:30pm Saturday matinee show (not about to pay full price for a movie
that is supposed to suck). The theater was only about half full with a few
dozen parents with small children, most of whom were very behaved believe
it or not. It might have had something to do with all the bright colors and
an absurd amount of falling down jokes compliments of Shaggy and Scooby. Though
the kid behind me cried once thanks to the high-quality digital monsters.
If you have seen the first one, it is about the same, except you don’t have
to endure Scrappy Doo. The story is hokey, but not much worse than the original
cartoons. Just these days Scooby and the gang have some deeper emotional issues
to work around as well. All in all it was entertaining, definitely something
the kids will enjoy.
