THANKS TO YOU, IT’S WORKING

Temecula, CA – I try hard not to notice the spin zone I’m in. Unlike Bill O’Reilly’s neighborhood, the zone I’m in is all spin. But it isn’t a ‘spin is sin’ zone, it’s a ‘spin to win’ zone and I’m blessed to be a cog in the bog. Take the other day. I got a VM from the friends whose poster hangs above my bed, Invisible Children, which is not your granddaddy’s charity (Red Cross =s 20%$ relief, Invisible Children =s 100%$ relief).

It was Jason. This is of course like getting a call from Billy Gates or Stevie Jobs, no 'underling' made the call. If you haven’t checked the background story of Invisible Children, go here. Suffice it to say, they had me at ‘hello.’ At any rate, Jason was calling his peeps and giving them the 411 about a contest the group, as a charity, was trying to win. The prize was $100,000 to the Haitian relief and a $1,000,000 donation to Invisible Children for the Ugandan effort. This call wasn’t about putting the bite on my non-existent monetary funds but a FREE way to help. Like I said, this ain’t your grandfather’s charity.

The message said ‘go to Facebook and vote for Invisible Children to win’ their contest as they were the sponsors. Facebook is a social site where your friends get to keep up with you. My friends don’t ‘keep up’ with me, they read about my adventures now and remember what it was like when I didn’t live in ‘Hollywood’ land. I’m on MySpace because that’s my ‘beat’. But the message also said tell your friends, and I texted my friends who know about Invisible Children. So on behalf of IC, thanks to you, it worked and they won. See what it was like at the headquarters which is only 45 minutes from here.
A Million Thanks

Invisible Children
